FATAL PEDESTRIAN COLLISION 700 BLOCK OF SOUTH CRAYCROFT ROAD |
On the night of June 19, 2025, patrol officers responded to the 700 block of South Craycroft Road for multiple reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and dog. Officers and members of the Tucson Fire Department arrived just after 8 p.m. and tended to the parties involved. The involved pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital by TFD. Shortly after arrival, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. She was identified as 31-year-old Alicia M. Thompson. Next of kin was notified. Traffic Unit Detectives took over the investigation and continued the case.
Interviews conducted by officers and detectives along with roadway evidence determined that the pedestrian was walking in the roadway, in an unknown direction, with a dog. The pedestrian was observed sitting and laying down in the median lane of southbound Craycroft Road when she and the dog were struck by a 2020 Honda CR-V. The 75-year-old female driver of the Honda immediately stopped and cooperated with the investigation. Police determined she was not impaired and found that the streetlights in the area were fully operational. The main contributing factor is believed to be walking in the roadway by the pedestrian and the investigation remains ongoing.
