Between June 13 and June 15, 2025, multiple demonstrations took place across Tucson, all of which were peaceful and concluded without major incident. However, during the motor march on the afternoon of June 14, two separate minor assault calls occurred between crowd members, along with a minor traffic collision along the route.
On the evening of June 14, during that same motor march, officers were alerted to individuals involved in the event who were observed spray-painting graffiti near East 22nd Street and South Country Club Road. As officers attempted to detain those responsible, one individual assaulted officers by spraying them with pepper spray.
All individuals connected to this incident have been detained. Following the investigation, 27-year-old Jazzie Terrell was arrested for Criminal Damage and Resisting Arrest. Terrell was booked into the Pima County Jail and later released through Pretrial Services. Additionally, 19-year-old Langston Crooms was arrested for three counts of Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer. He was booked into the Pima County Jail and held on a $7,500 bond.
The actions of these individuals did not reflect the overall peaceful nature of the demonstrations that occurred throughout the weekend.
While we support the right to assemble peacefully, behavior that endangers the safety of members of our community and our officers will not be tolerated.
The Tucson Police Department fully respects the rights of individuals to peacefully express their views. Our role during public events is to help maintain safety and ensure order, intervening only when necessary to address criminal conduct.
