Yesterday evening, the Tucson Police Department responded to unlawful activity that took place during a public demonstration near South Country Club Road and East Valencia Road.
The demonstration, related to national concerns surrounding immigration enforcement, began peacefully. However, as the event progressed, several individuals engaged in criminal behavior, including vandalism of nearby businesses and the assault of private security personnel.
Officers from the Tucson Police Department intervened to restore order and ensure public safety. A total of three individuals were arrested in connection with the unlawful activity. The individuals were identified as 23-year-old Natalia Navarra, arrested for Unlawful Assembly and Resisting Arrest; 46-year-old Sulutasen Amador, arrested for Obstructing a Public Thoroughfare and Disorderly Conduct; and 23-year-old Hannah Hartranett, arrested for Obstructing a Public Thoroughfare and Unlawful Assembly. All three were booked into the Pima County Jail.
The incident is still under investigation, and additional charges or arrests may be forthcoming.
