City of Tucson and U.S. Army to Sign Partnership Agreement for Army Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) Program
Builds upon the work being done nationally and locally to assist veterans transitioning back into the civilian workforce and provides skilled workers for large and small employers in our community
The City of Tucson and the U.S. Army will be signing a partnership agreement tomorrow, June 12, 2025, as part of the U.S. Army Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) program at 9 a.m. at the Tucson Convention Center, 260 South Church Ave, Tucson, AZ 85701.
The PaYS Program is a strategic partnership between the Army and a cross section of private industry, academia, and state and local public entities. The U.S. Army PaYS Program guarantees soldiers interviews and possible employment after their service in the Army as well as the unique opportunity to simultaneously serve their country and prepare for their future.
The PaYS program is designed to help soldiers prepare for a career after the Army by connecting them with employers who understand the skills, discipline, and work ethic that military service members bring to a business. This program is part of a long-term U.S. Army effort to help soldiers forge professional relationships with businesses and encourage business owners to look to the Army as a plentiful and reliable recruiting source. Since PaYS began in 2000, more than 1,353 employers have partnered with the program.
"The PaYS partnership with the U.S. Army is a great opportunity to help us address staffing needs at the City of Tucson," said Tucson Mayor Regina Romero. "It is important to me to work towards fully staffing our City departments so that we can provide the best delivery of services to Tucsonans. Those who serve in the military have a unique set of skills, including the ability to work well as members of a team and solve problems. Many have also served around the world and bring a strong understanding of how to work with diverse communities."
City of Tucson Human Resources Director Teri Traaen stated, 'We look forward to the long-term partnership that is being launched with the U.S. Army PaYS. The opportunity to support our veteran community is an honor."
