CITY CELEBRATES POOL AND SLIDE IMPROVEMENTS AT QUINCIE DOUGLAS POOL - The City of Tucson will celebrate recent improvements to Quincie Douglas Pool tomorrow, June 6, at 1 p.m., at 1563 E. 36th St. Mayor Regina Romero, Ward 5 Council Member Rocque Perez, and the Parks and Recreation department are hosting the event. The $1.1 million renovation, completed by Kratt Construction Inc., was funded with $437,180 from Proposition 407 and $683,638 from the City’s Investment Fund. Upgrades included replacing the pool and splash pad decks, re-plastering the pool shell, refurbishing the slide and its concrete pedestals, installing new sand filter tanks, and adding security screens to the lifeguard house windows. CITY TO HOST APPRECIATION LUNCH HONORING VOLUNTEERS SUPPORTING TUCSON’S UNHOUSED - The City of Tucson will host a volunteer appreciation lunch to thank the many Tucsonans who have given their time to support the Multi-Disciplinary Outreach Team (MDOT), part of the Housing First division. The event will be held Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m.-noon, at the El Pueblo Recreation Center, 101 W. Irvington Road, Building 9. Tucson Mayor Regina Romero will be there to recognize the valuable contributions of the volunteers. Community volunteers assemble care packages containing non-perishable food, water, hygiene products, and other necessities to support individuals who are unhoused. The completed kits are distributed by MDOT outreach workers.
