MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEETINGS TOMORROW - Tucson's Mayor and Council will meet tomorrow, June 3, at 2 p.m., for its Study Session, at which they will prepare for the final adoption of the Budget and Compensation Plan for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) and discuss the progress of Plan Tucson, the City's General Plan. Mayor and Council will reconvene at 5:30 p.m. for the Regular Meeting, which will include final adoption of the Budget and Compensation Plan, and there will be a public hearing on property tax levies, which will be approved on Tuesday, June 17. CITY REOPENS AN IMPROVED JOAQUIN MURRIETA PARK - Tucson Mayor Regina Romero, Vice Mayor Lane Santa Cruz, and Tucson Parks and Recreation celebrated the grand reopening of Joaquin Murrieta Park, 1400 N. Silverbell Road, on Saturday, May 31. Thanks to major investments from multiple funding sources, including $12.18 million from Proposition 407, $1.23 million from impact fees, and nearly $1 million from the Arizona State Parks and Trails Land and Water Conservation Fund, the park has undergone a significant transformation. Improvements include a new four-field baseball and softball complex with lighting and shade, a new concession building with restrooms, new irrigation for existing softball fields and throughout the upgraded areas, a new splash pad, new restrooms, two new playgrounds, and new ramadas, walking paths, and 100 new trees. SUMMER POOLS NOW OPEN - Tucson Parks and Recreation opened 19 summer pools yesterday, June 1, and they will remain open through Thursday, July 31. Pool admission is free for everyone. TUCSON PARKS AND RECREATION HOSTS FIRST SUMMER TRACK AND FIELD COMPETITION TOMORROW - The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation department is hosting its annual summer track and field events in June and July, weather permitting. The cost is $3 per youth (17 years and younger) and $4 for adults (18 years and older). Track and field events are held Tuesdays, through July 30, at Drachman Stadium, 501 S. Plumer Ave. The first event will be held tomorrow, June 3. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m., and the meet begins at 7 p.m. Ribbons will be given to the top finishers at each track and field event. $3 TUESDAYS ARE BACK AT REID PARK ZOO - Reid Park Zoo is offering $3 admission every Tuesday, throughout June and July, for all guests as a way of thanking the community for supporting the Zoo over the past 60 years. Children under age 2 always get in free. Guests can purchase their discounted tickets at the front entrance. The Zoo is open daily, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Read more
