SUN LINK ROLLING OUT SUMMER SCHEDULES NEXT WEEK - Sun Link will begin operating its summer schedule Monday, May 19. Riders can expect schedule adjustments to weekdays and weekends. The new hours for the streetcar will be Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday, 7 a.m.-midnight; Saturday, 8 a.m.-midnight; and Sunday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. The streetcar runs every 10 to 15 minutes Monday through Saturday. BEAT THE HEAT AT A CITY POOL OR SPLASH PAD - Nine of the City of Tucson’s 10 splash pads are open for the season, as we are close to hitting triple digit temperatures today before it cools down a bit. All pools and splash pads are free to use. Palo Verde Splash Pad will remain closed until a later date, due to park construction. DEADLINE EXTENDED TO REGISTER FOR THE WOMEN’S FASTPITCH SOFTBALL LEAGUE - Tucson Parks and Recreation is hosting women’s Fastpitch Softball Leagues this summer. Players ages 16 or older can sign up for either the competitive league or the recreational league. The league runs May 29-Aug. 7, from 6-10 p.m. Registration is open online (link below), through Friday, May 23. Games will be played at CSM Martin R. "Gunny" Barreras Memorial Park, 5890 S. 2ND CHANCE PROM OFFERS A NIGHT OF NOSTALGIA WHILE GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY - Tucson Parks and Recreation is hosting a 2nd Chance Prom for adults 21 and older to experience prom once again. This free event will be held Saturday, May 17, at Armory Park Center, 222 S. 5th Ave., from 5-8 p.m., and will feature live music, dancing, prom-themed activities, and local vendors. Attendees are encouraged to bring gently used prom and wedding dresses to donate to Free Ever After, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping youth access formal attire for their own prom night. Donations will help local teens feel confident and beautiful on a memorable evening. Formal attire is encouraged. Read more
