On April 23, 2025, at 7:25pm, officers from Operations Division Midtown and Tucson Fire Department personnel responded to the intersection of East Broadway Blvd. and North Arcadia Ave. regarding a collision involving a motorcyclist. Upon arrival, TFD transported the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other involved vehicle remained on scene and was not injured. TPD Traffic Detectives, Crime Scene Unit, and an officer from the Impaired Driving Enforcement Unit responded to continue the investigation.
Based on interviews and roadway evidence, investigators determined that the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Broadway Blvd. in the middle lane. The driver of the other involved vehicle, a 2007 Lincoln SUV, was attempting to make a left hand, northbound turn onto Arcadia Ave. from Broadway Blvd. when the collision occurred.
Sadly, the motorcyclist did not survive her injuries and she was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The motorcyclist was identified as 24-year-old Bianey Franco. Ms. Franco was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. Her family was notified of her passing.
Failure to yield while making a left-hand turn by the Lincoln SUV and speeding by Ms. Franco are believed to be the major contributing factors. The driver of the Lincoln was determined to not be impaired by alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision. Any alcohol and or drugs within Ms. Franco will be determined through medical records.
No charges or citations have been issued at this time as this is an on-going investigation. Any additional details may be released as they become available.
