RESTRICTED ACCESS TO "A" MOUNTAIN MARCH THIS WEEKEND - “A” Mountain will host the Good Friday Cross Procession (Procesión de la Cruz del Viernes Santo) and Easter Sunday Sunrise Services (Servicio al Amanecer), which will restrict vehicular access to Sentinel Peak Park. In order to accommodate these events, Sentinel Peak Road will be closed to vehicles beginning tomorrow, April 18, at 3 p.m. Normal operations will resume on Saturday, April 19. The Sunday procession is expected to begin at 5 a.m. and be completed by 10 a.m. Motorists driving in the area may experience traffic delays associated with these events. The traveling public should use caution when driving, bicycling, or walking in these areas. Please watch for event participants and obey all neighborhood posted speed limits. CITY OF TUCSON SET TO BREAK GROUND ON SANTA RITA PARK IMPROVEMENTS - The City of Tucson will break ground on major improvements at Santa Rita Park on Thursday, April 24, at 9 a.m., at 401 E. 22nd St. (enter off 21st Street due to park closure). The nearly $8 million investment — funded by Prop 407 bond funds, General Fund Framework dollars, a Tohono O’odham Nation Gaming Grant, and impact fees — will bring a splash pad, shaded playground, walking paths, new restrooms, event plaza, and public art, including mosaic benches designed by an Arizona artist and fabricated by local students. More than 300 trees and shrubs will be planted, a modern irrigation system will be installed, and 3rd Avenue in the area will be closed permanently to expand green space. The existing softball field will be reconfigured to include multipurpose fields, and a new parking lot will improve access. VIEW PARKS AND RECREATION SUMMER CLASSES AND CAMPS - Tucson Parks and Recreation will offer a wide array of summer indoor leisure classes and camps. Classes range from arts and crafts, Little Movers and Shakers, dance, gymnastics, jewelry making, glass fusing, music, and more for youth and adults. KIDCO Summer (5-11 years old), KIDCO Inclusion (5-11 years old), In-Betweeners Club (12-14 years old), Junior Staff in Training (14-17 years old), and Therapeutic Recreation camps will be offered in June and July. SUN VAN HOSTS COMPREHENSIVE OPERATIONAL ANALYSIS SURVEY AND ANOTHER MEETING - The Sun Van Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA) aims to identify opportunities to improve access to transit, enhance Sun Van service for a better customer experience, and propose recommendations for future service. Since feedback is essential in shaping the future of Sun Van, riders are asked to complete the brief survey linked below.
