|
On April 13, 2025, around 10:30 a.m., officers from Operations Division West were dispatched to Doris Thompson Park, located at 2000 N. 4th Ave., for the report of an unresponsive male. Upon arrival, officers located the male with what appeared to be significant blunt-force trauma. He was pronounced deceased at the scene and identified as 60-year-old Michael Lee Baker. Mr. Baker’s next of kin was notified. TPD Homicide Detectives were called to the scene and continued the investigation.
Investigators identified a possible suspect, 19-year-old Daniel Xavier Webster, through evidence and follow-up conducted near the park. Officers from the ODW/Community Response Team conducted surveillance in the area of Webster’s last known address and found him at a residence near South Park Avenue. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the property, which was served by TPD SWAT. Officers detained Webster at the scene. He was interviewed and subsequently charged with 1st Degree Murder. He is currently being held in the Pima County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with additional information is asked to contact 88-CRIME, you can remain anonymous.
