CITY HOLIDAY CLOSURES MONDAY: NO CHANGES TO TRASH AND RECYCLING COLLECTIONS - All City of Tucson offices, except for emergency services, will be closed Monday, March 31, in observance of the César Chávez and Dolores Huerta Holiday. All trash and recycling collections will remain on schedule, so make sure to roll out your bins as usual. The Los Reales Sustainability Campus and landfill services will be open on Monday, and all public transportation will be on a regular schedule. COOL OFF AT A CITY POOL OR SPLASH PAD THIS SPRING - Eight of the City of Tucson’s 10 splash pads will open for the season on Tuesday, April 1. Starting Sunday, April 6, three extended-season pools will open, joining the three year-round pools already in operation. Spring pool hours will also take effect on that date. All pools and splash pads are free to the public. Catalina Splash Pad will open on May 1, due to bathroom construction, and Palo Verde Splash Pad will remain closed until a later date, due to park construction. PUBLIC COMMENT OPEN FOR NAMING UDALL PARK BASEBALL FIELD - Tucson Parks and Recreation last week opened a 45-day public comment period to name Morris K. Udall Park baseball field No. 3 to “Chase Ridenour Field.” Chase Ridenour was a Tucson native and former Sabino Canyon Little League player. Following his passing, his family established a fund supporting youth baseball, contributing to improvements at field No. 3, including a new scoreboard. SECOND PLANNING COMMISSION PUBLIC HEARING RESCHEDULED FOR PLAN TUCSON 2025 REVISED DRAFT - The Planning Commission rescheduled its second Plan Tucson 2025 Revised Draft public hearing to Wednesday, April 9, at 6 p.m., due to a lack of quorum at the Wednesday, March 19, meeting. Plan Tucson 2025 is the City of Tucson’s general plan and outlines the City’s strategic vision for growth, sustainability, and community development over the next decade. Public input is a crucial part of the process as the revised draft plan moves through review and adoption. Following the Planning Commission’s review, Mayor and Council will hold a study session in late April, followed by a public hearing in May. If approved, Tucson residents will have the opportunity to vote on Plan Tucson in the November election.
