SANTA RITA PARK IMPROVEMENTS GROUND BREAKING
Tucson Mayor Regina Romero, Ward 5 Council Member Richard Fimbres, and Tucson Parks and Recreation invite the public to the groundbreaking of significant improvements at Santa Rita Park, made possible through Tucson Delivers voter-approved Proposition 407. This nearly $8 million investment will bring a new splash pad and playground with shade structures, newly created walking paths, a redesigned plaza for community events, and over 300 new trees and shrubs. Additional upgrades include a new restroom facility, relocated baseball fields, two new multi-purpose fields, improved parking access, and a modern irrigation system. A public art installation featuring a mosaic designed by artist Oliverio Balcells and fabricated by local students will honor the park’s rich history. The park will be closed during construction and is expected to be completed by Summer 2026.
Date: Thursday, April 24, 9 a.m. Location: Santa Rita Park, 401 E. 22nd St.
