FATAL MOTORCYCLE COLLISION NORTH PANTANO ROAD AND EAST HAWTHORNE STREET |
On March 22, 2025, officers from Operations Division East and Tucson Fire Department personnel responded to a collision involving a motorcyclist on North Pantano Road, near East Hawthorne Street. Upon arrival, TFD transported the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. TPD Traffic Detectives were notified of the motorcyclist’s condition and responded to continue the investigation.
Based on interviews and roadway evidence, detectives believe the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Pantano when he came to a sudden stop in the roadway. A 2019 Toyota Tundra was also traveling northbound, directly behind the motorcyclist; however, the Tundra failed to stop and collided into the back of the motorcycle. The investigation revealed that a dog being walked with a leash may have stepped into the roadway prior to the crash.
The motorcyclist had the proper motorcycle endorsement associated with his driver’s license and was not wearing a helmet. An officer from the DUI Unit responded to the scene and evaluated the driver of the Tundra for impairment. It was determined that the driver, identified as a 57-year-old male, was not impaired at the time of the collision. He was issued a civil citation for failure to control his speed. On March 23, detectives were notified by the Office of the Medical Examiner that the motorcyclist had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. He was identified as 60-year-old Raymond Gordon Brown Jr. His family was aware of his passing. The investigation remains ongoing.
