COMMUNITY VOTERS DID NOT APPROVE PROPOSITION 414 - With the majority of ballots tabulated, the unofficial results of yesterday’s, March 11, City of Tucson election show that voters did not approve Proposition 414, a ballot measure that would have created a new, temporary half-cent sales tax for the next 10 years to fund public safety and community resiliency investments. Tucson Mayor Regina Romero, in her comments after the election, stated that, “Voters were clear that Proposition 414 was not their preferred answer, so we go back to the drawing board. This Mayor and Council, our city manager, and executive leadership team remain committed to working toward solutions that strengthen Tucson and create a safe and vibrant community for all.” You can see the unofficial results by following the link below. Ballots cast or submitted on election day will be processed over the next two days and tabulated on Monday, March 17. Final results are expected to be posted that evening. Election results

LEARN HOW TO TURN FOOD INTO COMPOST - The City of Tucson's FoodCycle at Home program provides residents the opportunity to drop off their accepted food waste at a FoodCycle site. The food waste will be used at the City of Tucson’s Los Reales Sustainability Campus Composting Facility. At-home composting is a great way to help divert waste from ending up in our landfills and reduce greenhouse gasses. Participate in the FoodCycle At Home program by completing a half-hour training, get the site access code, a convenient kitchen pail, and start collecting and dropping off your food waste. Those who complete training will also receive information on pickup dates for the City’s compost to use in their own gardens. This program is in partnership with the Community Gardens of Tucson and University of Arizona Compost Cats. The next training (sign up link below) is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, at 5:30 p.m., at the Ward 6 Council Office, 3202 E. First St. Read more Sign up for training
