Following their initial investigation, homicide detectives learned that the victim, Andrea Padilla, was fatally shot after a physical confrontation. Detectives identified 29-year-old Lorenzo Camacho Cordova as the suspect. After establishing probable cause, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. Cordova for Murder on February 6, 2025.
TPD Community Response Teams from Operations Division South and Operations Division West initiated efforts to locate the suspect. On February 27, 2025, ODS/CRT located Mr. Cordova on Tucson’s South side. ODW/CRT and TPD SWAT responded to assist, ultimately taking Mr. Cordova into custody during a traffic stop on West Silverlake Road. Detectives briefly spoke with the suspect before he was booked into the Pima County Jail for his warrant. He is currently being held on a $1,000,000 bond.

On the morning of January 27, 2025, the Public Safety Communications Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a deceased person in the area of East 22nd Street and South Park Avenue. Officers from Operations Division South responded and searched the area. Officers located a deceased female in the wash near 21st Street and South Euclid Avenue. Police noticed signs of trauma on the female and identified her as 39-year-old Andrea Marie Padilla. Her family was notified. Detectives from the Homicide Unit were called to the scene and continued the investigation. After processing the scene and conducting initial interviews, detectives have yet to identify a suspect. Anyone with information is urged to contact 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME where you can share information anonymously. Updates will be provided as they become available.
