HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. WAY AND EAST TUCSON MARKETPLACE BOULEVARD

On February 19, 2025, officers from Operations Division South responded to the report of a deceased person in the desert area east of Tucson Marketplace Boulevard, near Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Upon arrival, officers located the deceased male with apparent gunshot trauma. Officers identified the victim as 42-year-old John Britton Steele. Next of kin was notified.

Detectives from the Homicide Unit processed the scene and surrounding area. No suspects have been identified, and detectives are actively pursuing leads in this case. Anyone with information is asked to contact 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME where you can remain anonymous. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available.
