FATAL PEDESTRIAN COLLISION 800 BLOCK OF EAST AVIATION HIGHWAY |
On February 5, 2025, at approximately 8:40 p.m., officers from Operations Division West/Downtown District responded to the 800 block of East Aviation Highway for the report of a collision involving a pedestrian. Tucson Fire Department personnel also responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased. The driver of the involved vehicle was not injured. Traffic Detectives were called to the scene and continued the investigation.
Investigators determined that the pedestrian was most likely stationary and in a crouched position in the westbound lanes of Aviation Highway when he was struck. The pedestrian, identified as 57-year-old Dale Anthony Lauzon, was struck by a blue 2018 Kia Soul which was traveling westbound. Detectives noted that Aviation has fencing along the roadway to deter pedestrian traffic and that the streetlights along the roadway were operational. An officer from the DUI Unit responded to the scene and determined that the driver of the Kia, identified as a 54-year-old male, was not impaired. Any impairment on behalf of Mr. Lauzon may be determined through medical records. The investigation remains ongoing.
