HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION 2700 BLOCK OF SOUTH COCONINO VISTA |

On January 30, 2025, shortly before 3:30 a.m., officers from Operations Division South and personnel from the Tucson Fire Department responded to the 2700 block of S. Coconino Vista for reports of a shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult female with gunshot trauma. She was transported to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Officers secured the scene and located a person of interest, identified as 36-year-old Bariki Amani Hopkins.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation. Detectives learned that Mr. Hopkins and the victim were in a domestic relationship and that the victim was pregnant. After processing the scene for evidence and completing interviews, detectives ultimately arrested Mr. Hopkins for two counts of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder (Domestic Violence). He was booked into the Pima County Jail.
On February 1, 2025, the Office of the Medical Examiner notified the Tucson Police Department that the victim had succumbed to her injuries. She has been identified as 26-year-old Anisa Linette Moreno. Next of kin was notified of her passing.
Detectives are amending the charges to two counts of 2nd Degree Murder (Domestic Violence). This remains an ongoing investigation.
