On January 6, 2025, patrol officers from Operations Division West were dispatched to a shooting in front of a convenience store in the 400 block of East Prince Road. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with gunshot trauma and immediately rendered aid. The victim, identified as 37-year-old Timothy Dean Grace, was transported by Tucson Fire to Banner University Medical Center in critical condition. Detectives from the Shooting Investigations Unit responded to the scene and continued the investigation.
Investigators learned that the suspect had confronted the victim in front of the store and shot him before fleeing in a vehicle. The vehicle was later identified along with the suspect, 37-year-old Donald Albert Delgado Jr. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Donald Delgado on January 8th. Later that evening, Operations Division West/Community Response Team members located Mr. Delgado at an apartment complex on West Saint Mary’s Road. Mr. Delgado was taken into custody and ultimately booked into the Pima County Jail. He was charged with Attempted Murder, Prohibited Possessor, and Discharging a Firearm Within City Limits.
On January 26, 2025, TPD Shooting Investigations Unit was notified that the victim, Mr. Grace, had died as a result of the injuries he sustained. Detectives responded to the Pima County Jail, where Mr. Delgado was still in custody, and amended his charges to 2nd Degree Murder and Prohibited Possessor. He is currently being held on a $1,000,000 bond.
