Stolen Property Arrest
ODM Officer Packard responded to a call for service regarding a reported theft of several thousand dollars' worth of property stolen from the victim's work truck. The victim believed that some of the stolen items could be found in the back yard of a nearby residence – a residence that has caused ongoing concerns in the neighborhood.
Additional officers responded and items reported stolen by the victim could be seen in the back yard. Thirteen people exited the residence and were detained. Initially, the homeowner declined to exit. Officers continued to talk to him for several hours. ODM Neighborhood Crimes Section (NCS) detectives responded, obtained a search warrant, and the homeowner eventually exited and was detained.
Additional individuals were located in an RV on the property and were also detained. Officers and detectives recovered some of the victim’s stolen property, which was returned to him. The theft investigation is ongoing. Four of the detainees were arrested for outstanding felony warrants.
On-Sight Felony Arrest
ODM Officer Higuera was conducting proactive patrol in the ODM VIVA site in the Grant and Alvernon area when he located a newer model Tesla SUV in the 2500 block of North Dodge with no license plate and two individuals asleep inside.
Upon further investigation, Officer Higuera observed what appeared to be drugs on the dashboard, along with paraphernalia. Additional officers responded to further investigate. The driver was found to have an out-of-state felony warrant for aggravated assault with a weapon. He was arrested and booked into jail on the outstanding warrant and drug-related charges.
Contact with the Tesla dealership revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen. Investigation into the stolen vehicle is ongoing.
Intelligence Gathering and Sharing
Officer Romo, a member of the ODM Community Response Team (CRT), regularly participates in citywide deployments to combat street racing. She received information that a vehicle involved in a serious collision in the county might have been involved with street racing. Using her intelligence gathering, Officer Romo identified another vehicle possibly related to the incident and relayed the information to the Pima County Sheriff's Department for further investigation. That vehicle was later confirmed to have been the outstanding vehicle.

Crime Prevention Tip
Over the holidays, driving under the influence goes up. Protect yourself, friends, and loved ones.
- Have a designated driver, or take a taxi or ride share. Ask a bartender to call you a ride home, if you need to.
- If you don't plan to stay the night where you're at, leave and get off the roads well before the bars close.
- Be aware of your guests' alcohol consumption and offer to have them stay the night or get them a ride home. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) suggests ways to have this conversation.
- Be vigilant looking out for drivers who may be under the influence. Give them a wide berth and call 911 if you see unsafe driving. MADD has a list of driving behaviors that may indicate impairment.
- Be extra cautious driving after dark. Collisions go up in the winter months and darkness, even without impairment, is a contributing factor.
