TUCSON PARKS AND RECREATION HOSTS FALL FAMILY FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND - Tucson Parks and Recreation invites you to a full day packed with family-friendly activities at this year's Fall Family Festival on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Gene C. Reid Park, 920 S. Concert Place. This year's festival is bigger and better than ever, featuring a wide variety of events taking place all across the park. Whether you're looking to race in the Turkey Trot, show off your pumpkin derby car, or enjoy the glow of the evening Pumpkin Flotilla, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. While all games and activities are free, you must bring cash for the Food Truck Roundup, from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Live entertainment will be provided by the Tucson Pops Orchestra and the Tucson Jazz Festival. SWEETWATER WETLANDS REOPENS TOMORROW - Sweetwater Wetlands is expected to reopen tomorrow, Nov. 15, after a short closure for the second phase of an annual controlled burn that began yesterday. The first burn occurred in one basin on Tuesday, Oct 1. Conducting two smaller burns allows for the gentle regeneration of the native riparian habitat prior to the winter bird migratory season. The burns are a collaboration between Tucson Water and the Tucson Fire Department. Sweetwater Wetlands is located at 2511 W. Sweetwater Drive, west of Prince and Interstate 10. Sweetwater Wetlands
LEARN TO RIDE WITH SUN TRAN - Sun Tran invites community members to join the two remaining "Learn to Ride" in-person training sessions. These interactive monthly sessions help new riders navigate Sun Tran’s transit system. Riders will learn about trip planning, reading route schedules, loading their bikes onto the bus, and more. The next two sessions will take place Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 11:30 a.m., and Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 11:30 a.m. Both sessions will be held at Sun Tran Administration Building, 3910 N. Sun Tran Blvd. Riders can use Route 10 and get off at the stop at Romero Road and Smoot Drive. From there, take a short walk west on Smoot Drive until you spot the Sun Tran gate.
