HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
3280 WEST 36TH STREET
On October 12, 2024, just before 2:30 a.m., patrol officers from Operations Division South responded to the report of shots heard at the trailhead located at 3280 W. 36th St. Shortly after the shots heard call was received, a 17-year-old male gunshot victim was dropped off at St. Mary’s Hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was ultimately pronounced deceased. He has been identified as Keven Yanez Acuna. Next of kin has been notified of his passing. TPD Homicide Detectives were called to the scene and took over the investigation.
After processing the scene and conducting interviews, detectives believe that the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with a group at the trailhead. During the altercation, Mr. Acuna was shot. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details will be released as they become available. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact 88-CRIME.
