RESOURCE FAIR FOR THE HOMELESS FRIDAY - The City of Tucson and Tucson Homeless Connect will host Hope in the Park, a day-long fair to provide various resources for unsheltered individuals and families. The event will be held Friday, Oct. 11, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at Rudy Garcia Park, 5001 S. Nogales Highway (southeast corner at Irvington Road). This event will help individuals obtain services, such as health screenings, behavioral health, VA benefits, food, shelter/housing, legal assistance, clothing, haircuts, animal care, and more. PUMPKINS & PISTONS TRUNK-OR-TREAT, CAR SHOW, AND RESOURCE FAIR NEXT WEEK - Celebrate Tucson’s car culture and the fall season at this free, family-focused trunk-or-treat fiesta. The City of Tucson Community Safety, Health & Wellness team invites you to join the first Pumpkins & Pistons Car Show, Resource Fair, and Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 1-5 p.m., at the "haunted" City-State Garage downtown, 498 W. Congress St. In addition to showcasing more than 150 one-of-a-kind cars, there will be prizes for the best cars, a car cruise, free games and family activities, food trucks, plenty of free resources and services, lots of candy, and a raffle benefiting the City of Tucson's Housing First Program. REGISTRATION FOR SENIOR OLYMPIC FESTIVAL OPENS NEXT MONTH - Tucson Parks and Recreation and the Pain Institute of Southern Arizona present the 40th annual Senior Olympic Festival, Jan. 4-Feb. 2, 2025, at several venues throughout Tucson. The festival is a celebration to promote fitness, health, and an active lifestyle among adults 50 years of age and older. Some of the events include volleyball, bowling, bridge, racquetball, basketball shoot, pickleball, archery, golf, tennis, horseshoes, badminton, and more. Entry fees vary by event. Attend the Meet the Coordinator event on Thursday, Dec. 12, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., at Morris K. Udall Recreation Center, 7200 E. THERAPEUTIC RECREATION AT TUCSON PARKS AND RECREATION - Tucson Parks and Recreation's Therapeutic Recreation division's mission is to provide programs that develop and enhance lifelong recreational pursuits for people with disabilities through adaptive, aquatic, and inclusive recreation opportunities. Some of the teen and adult programs offered are bowling (watch video linked below), social club, basketball, track and field, wheelchair sports, and a monthly social dance. Tucson Parks and Recreation strives for the inclusion of all ability levels through adaptive supports in recreation programs and camps.
