Detectives from the Tucson Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified two suspects in connection to the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Adrian Aguilar from September 12th.
After reviewing forensic evidence, detectives discovered that the victim was shot during a drive by. The involved vehicle, a Ford pickup, was identified. In addition to this, two occupants were also identified as 16-year-old Alan Solis-Araujo and 16-year-old Marco Antonio Pallanes-Luzania. Arrest warrants were obtained for both suspects. On September 17, 2024, Operations Division South/Community Response Team Officers located Alan at his residence on Tucson’s Southside. TPD SWAT personnel responded to assist and took Alan into custody without incident. Investigators believed that the other suspect, Marco Pallanes-Luzania, had fled the Tucson area. On Wednesday, September 18th, Marco was arrested at the Port of Entry in Douglas, AZ when CBP agents discovered his arrest warrant.
Marco Pallanes-Luzania is currently being held in the Cochise County Jail in Bisbee, AZ and is awaiting extradition back to Pima County. Alan Solis-Araujo is being held in the Pima County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond. Detectives learned that one of the suspects was in a previous confrontation with the victim which led to the shooting. Both suspects have been charged with 1st Degree Murder and Drive-by Shooting.

On September 12, 2024, around 10:30 a.m., patrol officers from Operations Division South were dispatched to the report of a shooting victim on S. Oak Tree Dr., north of W. Valencia Rd. Upon arrival, officers located the male victim with gunshot trauma and immediately began rendering aid. Despite life-saving efforts by both TPD and Tucson Fire, the victim was pronounced deceased. Officers identified him as 16-year-old Adrian Aguilar. His family was notified. Detectives from the Homicide Unit were called to the scene and continued the investigation.
Detectives processed the scene and are currently working to develop leads. Anyone with information is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME, where you can share information anonymously. Additional details are limited; however, updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
