HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION 3500 BLOCK OF SOUTH MISSION ROAD |

On September 1, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m., patrol officers from Operations Division South responded to the 3500 block of S. Mission Rd., near W. Veterans Pl., for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with gunshot trauma. Officers immediately began rendering aid and summoned paramedics from the Tucson Fire Department. The victim was ultimately transported by TFD to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Officers at the scene had contacted several witnesses and obtained initial statements. Detectives from TPD’s Shooting Investigations Team and the Homicide Unit responded to continue the investigation.
Detectives learned that the victim had been accompanied by friends when the suspect confronted him. During the confrontation, the male suspect produced a firearm and shot the victim. The suspect fled the area in a vehicle after the shooting. The victim remained in the hospital receiving care for his injuries and could not be interviewed. On September 8, 2024, TPD Homicide Detectives were notified that the victim had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The victim was identified as 27-year-old Gage Francis Guerra. Next of kin was aware of his condition and subsequent passing.
Homicide detectives are actively pursuing leads in the investigation and are asking anyone with information to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous. Additional details will be released as they become available.
