HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION 2500 BLOCK OF EAST CAMBRIDGE RING DRIVE |
On August 2, 2024, just after 6:00 a.m., officers from Operations Division South responded to a home in the 2500 block of E. Cambridge Ring Dr. for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located 31-year-old Adam Lee Arndt in the home with gunshot trauma. Officers began rendering aid to Mr. Arndt until Tucson Fire Department personnel arrived. Despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Arndt was pronounced deceased at the scene. Officers had gathered possible witnesses and called homicide detectives to respond.
According to witness statements, the suspect had confronted the victim and began arguing with him. During the argument, the suspect retrieved a firearm and shot Mr. Arndt. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Jayden Betters, fled from the home on foot, but was quickly located by officers near E. Irvington Rd. and S. Tucson Blvd. Detectives contacted Jayden and completed interviews. After the service of a search warrant at the home, detectives charged the suspect with 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Prohibited Possessor. Since the suspect and victim lived together, investigators noted that the shooting was domestic violence related. Mr. Betters was transported and booked into the Pima County Jail.
