HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION SOUTH 12TH AVENUE AND WEST PRESIDENT STREET |
On June 21, 2024, just after 5:45 p.m., officers from Operations Division South responded to the area of S. 12th Ave. and W. President St. for the reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim in the roadway with obvious signs of gunshot trauma. Officers immediately began rendering aid with the use of their individual first aid kits until personnel from the Tucson Fire Department arrived and took over life-saving efforts. Despite these efforts, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as 47-year-old Eliseo German. Next of kin has been notified of his passing. The other subject, a 21-year-old male, had called 911 to report the shooting. Responding officers were able to locate him in the 500 block of W. Ajo Way.
Detectives from TPD’s Homicide Unit were contacted and responded to the scene to continue the investigation. Through interviews and evidence located at the scene, detectives learned that Mr. German and the 21-year-old male were stopped at a red light and were involved in a verbal altercation over an incident that occurred in the roadway. During that altercation, Mr. German and the 21-year-old male were both armed with firearms. The 21-year-old male discharged his firearm, fatally striking Mr. German.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details are limited. The case will be presented to the Pima County Attorney’s Office for review. Anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous. Additional updates will be released as they become available.
