HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
29 NORTH TUCSON BOULEVARD |

On June 2, 2024, just before 9:00 a.m., officers from Operations Division Midtown and personnel from the Tucson Fire Department responded to the front of 29 N. Tucson Blvd. for a reported checked welfare on an unresponsive adult male. TFD personnel located a male victim who was lying in front of the listed business with obvious signs of gunshot trauma. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as 56-year-old Joseph Baker. Next of kin has been notified of his passing. Officers secured the area, and detectives from TPD’s Homicide Unit were contacted and responded to the scene to continue the investigation.
Initial interviews were completed, and the scene was processed. The investigation is still in the early stages, and detectives are working to determine what led up to the shooting. No suspects have been identified, and anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous. Additional updates will be released as they become available.
