TUCSON PARKS AND RECREATION TO BREAK GROUND ON NEW PARK TOMORROW - Tucson Mayor Regina Romero, Ward 1 Council Member Lane Santa Cruz, and Tucson Parks and Recreation will break ground on the City’s newest park, Barrio Nopal Park, 311 E. Elvira Road. The event will take place tomorrow, May 3, at 4:30 p.m., and will mark the beginning of a transformative project for the community. The new park will feature a variety of amenities, including a new splash pad area, a shade structure, a playground, restrooms, a new walking path, ramadas, benches, and lighting. Funding for the project was secured through a combination of Tucson Delivers Great Parks + Strong Connections 2018 voter-approved general obligation (GO) bonds and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. ICYMI: MAYOR ROMERO AND VOLUNTEERS CELEBRATED EARTH DAY BY BEAUTIFYING THE 29TH STREET THRIVE ZONE (VIDEO) - Tucson Mayor Regina Romero and Team Up to Clean Up Tucson joined the 29th Street Thrive community, Tucson Clean & Beautiful, and City of Tucson employee volunteers to take part in an Earth Day cleanup event. The 29th Street Thrive Zone is the area located within Alvernon Way, 22nd Street, Craycroft Road, and 29th Street. The cleanup took place Friday, April 19, at Pima Community College, 29th Street Coalition Center, 4355 E. Calle Aurora.
