HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION 300 BLOCK OF NORTH INDIAN HOUSE ROAD |
Early this morning, just before 2:00 a.m., the Public Safety Communications Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a shooting in the 300 block of N. Indian House Rd. Patrol officers were directed to a vacant house northwest of E. Broadway Blvd. and N. Wilmot Rd. Upon arrival, police located a female victim deceased with gunshot trauma. She was identified as 20-year-old Marissa Jones Anderson. Next of kin was notified. Detectives from TPD’s Homicide Unit were called to the scene and continued the investigation.
Detectives learned that there was a gathering at the vacant house prior to the shooting. Several attendees from the gathering were contacted by police and interviewed. After conducting interviews and collecting evidence from the scene, detectives identified 18-year-old Josiah Williamking Walker as the suspect. Detectives relayed this information and collaborated with officers from Operations Division East/Community Response Team (ODE/CRT) and the Westside Division to quickly locate Josiah Walker. Police located Walker at a home near W. Speedway Blvd. and N. Riverview Blvd. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and contacted by Homicide Detectives.
Investigators ultimately charged Walker with Manslaughter and he has since been booked into the Pima County Jail. His bond has yet to be set. Detectives are continuing the investigation; however, no other suspects are being sought. Anyone with information or who may have been present during the incident is asked to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
