FATAL PEDESTRIAN COLLISION HIT AND RUN EAST 22ND STREET AND SOUTH SECOND AVENUE |
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on March 10, 2024, officers from Operations Division South were dispatched to the area of E. 22nd Street and S. 2nd Ave. for the report of a hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian. Tucson Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and evaluated the involved pedestrian. Despite life-saving efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased. Police identified the pedestrian as 69-year-old David Vance Selix. Next of kin was notified. Traffic Detectives were contacted and undertook the investigation.
Roadway evidence indicated that Mr. Selix was crossing 22nd Street at 2nd Ave. in an unknown direction when he was struck by the suspect vehicle. Detectives believe the vehicle was traveling eastbound on 22nd Street and that the pedestrian was in, or very near, an unmarked crosswalk at the time of the collision. The suspect driver leaving the scene of a fatal collision is the focus of the investigation and detectives are asking anyone with information to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME. The suspect vehicle is described as a silver four-door sedan.
