HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
2100 BLOCK OF SOUTH COTTONWOOD LANE |

On March 5, 2024, just after 10:00 p.m., officers from Operations Division South were dispatched to a mobile home park located in the 2100 block of S. Cottonwood Lane for a report of an unresponsive female. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased female with gunshot trauma inside a vehicle. Police identified the victim as 22-year-old Daniza Ferrales Sanchez. Next of kin was notified. During the initial response by patrol officers, St. Mary’s Hospital staff notified TPD that an adult male had arrived to the emergency room with gunshot trauma. Officers responded to the hospital and determined that the incidents were connected. The male sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was contacted by police. Detectives from the Homicide Unit were briefed and continued the investigation.
Investigators learned that Ms. Sanchez and the injured male were in the area of E. Benson Highway and S. Bonney Ave. when they were shot by unidentified suspects. Detectives responded to the area and processed the scene for evidence. Currently, no suspects have been identified and investigators are following up on leads.
