STATEMENT FROM TUCSON POLICE CHIEF KASMAR ISABEL CELIS CASE VERDICT |
|
|
Today, a verdict was reached in the tragic case of young Isabel Celis, who was abducted from her family and murdered nearly 12 years ago. Chief of Police Chad Kasmar extends his gratitude to the members of our community who served as jurors, dedicating close to a month to hear impactful and, at times, heart-wrenching testimony. Their verdict of guilty brings a measure of closure to this long-standing case. Chief Kasmar also acknowledges Superior Court Judge James Marner for presiding over the trial with diligence and fairness. The Tucson Police Department expresses its gratitude to Deputy County Attorneys Tracy Miller and Chris Ward for their tireless efforts in prosecuting this case. Lastly, the Chief recognizes the dedication and commitment of all the men and women of the Tucson Police Department who worked tirelessly on this investigation. While no verdict or punishment can undo the pain of Isabel's murder, we hope this outcome provides some solace and a sense of justice to the Celis family.
