SANTA'S CALLING
Santa and his elves would like to add some sparkle to a child’s holiday season through the Santa’s Calling program. Children ages 4-8 years old get an opportunity to speak with Santa and listen to his elves hard at work.
Fill out the online form at the link below by Saturday, Dec. 2. Be available by phone Dec. 5-7, from 5:30-8 p.m., so you don't miss Santa’s call. All children who cannot be reached by phone will receive a letter from Santa. For questions visit the link below.

SENIOR OLYMPIC FESTIVAL REGISTRATION CLOSES DEC. 29
Tucson Parks and Recreation and Pain Institute of Southern Arizona presents the 39th annual Senior Olympic Festival. This festival is a celebration to promote fitness, health, and an active lifestyle among adults 50 years of age and older. Events include volleyball, bowling, bridge, racquetball, basketball shoot, pickleball, archery, golf, tennis, horseshoes, badminton, and so much more. YOUTH VIDEO GAMING COMPETITION
Tucson Parks and Recreation hosts a monthly video gaming competition, Switch City. This program features monthly Nintendo Switch tournaments for teens ages 10-17 hosted at various recreation centers. A different game is played each month. No registration is required. Find locations and times HERE.
NOW HIRING LIFEGUARDS - GET PAID TO GET CERTIFIED
Are you or someone you know looking for a part-time job? Tucson Parks and Recreation is hiring lifeguards to operate and maintain the safety at City pools year-round. The minimum age to be a lifeguard is 15 years old. Pay starts at $16.75/hour.
The City will pay applicants to get their Lifeguard Certification through the City’s certification path. The lifeguard class is an intense, fast-paced course, and strong swim skills are required. All applicants must pass a swim test to qualify. The next swim test is at Clements Pool, Dec. 2, 10 a.m.-noon.

In November 2018, City of Tucson voters approved Proposition 407, a $225 million bond package for capital improvements. The bond funds are dedicated to improving City park amenities (playgrounds, sports fields, pools, splash pads, and recreation centers) as well as connections (pedestrian pathways, bicycle pathways, and pedestrian and bicycle safety). TUCSON PARKS AND RECREATION TO KICK OFF IMPROVEMENTS AT CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS PARK
Tucson Mayor Regina Romero, Ward 3 Council Member Kevin Dahl, and Tucson Parks and Recreation will kick off construction on improvement projects for Christopher Columbus Park. The event will take place Monday, Dec. 11, at 5 p.m., at the north end of the park, 3495 W. El Camino del Cerro. Key projects under construction are new LED lighting on two existing little league fields, new baseball field with LED lights, two new soccer fields with lighting, new restroom facilities, and expansion of the existing parking lot. The project was primarily funded by $4,553,705 allocated from the Tucson Delivers Great Parks + Strong Connections 2018 voter-approved general obligation bond. In addition, the City allocated $125,000 in Impact Fees, and $1,300,000 in Investment Funds. Construction is expected to be completed by December 2024.
