FATAL HIT AND RUN PEDESTRIAN COLLISION NORTH 1ST AVENUE AND EAST FORT LOWELL ROAD |

On Sunday, November 26, 2023, shortly after 6:30 p.m., officers from Operations Division West and personnel from the Tucson Fire Department responded to the intersection of N. 1st Ave. and E. Fort Lowell Rd. for reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle did not remain on scene and left prior to officers’ arrival. The adult-male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
Detectives from the Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the scene to continue the investigation. After conducting interviews and evaluating roadway evidence, detectives learned that the vehicle was southbound on N. 1st Ave. in the curb lane going through the intersection of N. 1st Ave. and E. Fort Lowell Rd. when it struck the pedestrian. Detectives are still working to determine where the pedestrian was in relation to the roadway and/or the crosswalk when the collision occurred.
The driver of the vehicle leaving the scene of a fatal collision is the focus of the investigation. No charges or citations have been issued at this time.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about this collision to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
