On September 13, 2023, the Tucson Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) was alerted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), via the Phoenix Police Department, that an internet search engine user in Tucson had uploaded over 200 images of child sexual abuse material. NCMEC was also able to provide the name of the user, 46-year-old Brian Edward Perdue.
On September 27, 2023, TPD’s ICAC Unit along with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office (AZAG) served a search warrant at Mr. Perdue's residence. With the assistance of TPD’s Electronic Storage Device (ESD) Detection K9 Zona and her handler, several storage devices were located in various hidden spots within the house. On one of two cell phones that were located, detectives found over 600 images of child sexual abuse material. Mr. Perdue was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail on 10 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, as well as several felony sex-offender registry offenses. Due to the nature of the crimes, specific details are limited. Brian Perdue had recently been released early from prison after being convicted of Child Molestation, Child Sexual Abuse, and Access with Intent to View Child Pornography.
The Tucson Police Department ICAC Unit, along with our federal, state, and local partners work to aggressively identify, investigate and arrest subjects who are engaged in behaviors that are endangering not only the children in our community, but around the globe. NCMEC’s Cyber Tipline receives leads and tips regarding suspected crimes of sexual exploitation committed against children. If you have information regarding possible child sexual exploitation, report it to the Cyber Tipline. Reports can be made 24 hours a day, 7 days a week online at www.cybertipline.com. Media inquiries may be directed to TPD ICAC Supervisor Sgt. Jove at 520-837-2774.
