Tucson Police Homicide Detectives are actively investigating a fatal double shooting that happened yesterday near S. Park Avenue and E. Irvington Road.
On September 18, 2023, just before 3:00 p.m., the Public Safety Communications Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting an unresponsive male found in the roadway on S. Fremont Avenue near E. Calle Nevada. Initially, it was believed that the male might have been struck by a vehicle; however, as Tucson Fire Department personnel attempted to render aid, they discovered gunshot trauma on the victim. Despite live-saving efforts, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene and was identified as 18-year-old Bryan Antonio Torres. Additional responding officers were canvassing the immediate area and located a second victim, who was seated in a passenger vehicle down the street. That victim was identified as 18-year-old Emir Arreola-Morales. He had also sustained gunshot trauma and died at the scene. Homicide Detectives were informed of the shooting and responded to continue the investigation.
Investigators are in the process of examining forensic evidence and are asking anyone with information to come forward and call 88-CRIME. No suspects have been identified and a motive has not been confirmed. Additional details will be released as they become available.
