HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
8201 EAST STELLA ROAD/LAKESIDE PARK |

Homicide Detectives from the Tucson Police Department are investigating an apparent murder/suicide that occurred at Lakeside Park. On August 3, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers from Operations Division East were dispatched to Lakeside Park, located at 8201 E. Stella Road, to conduct a welfare check. Information was received advising two unresponsive individuals were found at the park. When officers arrived, they located an adult male and an adult female with gunshot trauma inside a parked vehicle. They were both pronounced deceased at the scene. They have been identified as 38-year-old Jamie Crystal Macias and 46-year-old Shaunon Larry Thomas. Next of kin have been notified. Detectives with the Tucson Police Homicide Unit responded to continue the investigation. Investigators were able to determine that both Ms. Macias and Mr. Thomas were in an on-and-off relationship. Based on their initial investigation, detectives are classifying the shooting as a murder/suicide.
