HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION ***CORRECTION*** NORTH 15TH AVENUE AND WEST GRANT ROAD |
As the investigation progressed into the shooting death of Tyrell Havier, detectives were able to process forensic evidence and identified a vehicle associated to the suspects. Officers from Operations Division West/Community Response Team (ODW/CRT) located the vehicle on Tucson’s Southside and contacted an occupant in the car. Detectives processed the vehicle for evidence and developed additional information. Detectives identified 33-year-old Jesse Gabriel Vavages and 26-year-old Brennen Virgil Moristo as suspects in the case.
On the night of June 8th, while working off-duty in Downtown Tucson, two TPD Officers located Brennen Moristo; aware that detectives were looking for Moristo, the officers coordinated with additional uniformed officers and TPD K9 to take the suspect into custody. Once he was detained, police transported Mr. Moristo to TPD Headquarters where detectives met with him. Investigators ultimately charged Jesse Vavages and Brennen Moristo with 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Robbery, and Robbery. Both suspects were booked into the Pima County Jail. Brennen Moristo is being held on a $1,000,000 bond and Jesse Vavages is being held on a $500,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing and detectives believe an unidentified female was with Moristo and Vavages near the time of the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call 88-CRIME. Additional updates will be forthcoming.
