HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION
3700 BLOCK OF SOUTH PARK AVENUE |

On June 16, 2023, at approximately 4:15 p.m., patrol officers from Operations Division South responded to the parking lot of 3780 S. Park Avenue for reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim in the alleyway, north of the business. The victim had sustained gunshot trauma and officers immediately began rendering aid. He was eventually transported by the Tucson Fire Department to Banner University Medical Center. The victim, identified as 30-year-old Jacob Dean Stark, succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital and was pronounced deceased. His family was located and notified. Detectives from the Homicide Unit were advised of the shooting and responded to continue the investigation.
According to initial interviews and forensic evidence at the scene, Mr. Stark had been in the area with a friend prior to the shooting. The victim was approached by the male suspect in the parking lot and shot before the suspect ran away. Responding patrol officers had circulated the area for the suspect and sought additional witnesses. Detectives were able to obtain a basic description of the suspect and are currently following up on leads. Investigators are hoping to establish a motive to the shooting and are asking anyone with information to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME, you can remain anonymous.
