Homicide Detectives from the Tucson Police Department have identified and arrested a suspect in the March 11th fatal-shooting of Marte Alcorn.
On March 11, 2023, Mr. Alcorn was found in the courtyard of 1025 E. Benson Highway with gunshot trauma. Uniformed officers rendered aid to Mr. Alcorn but he died at the scene. At the conclusion of their initial response, homicide detectives determined that Mr. Alcorn had been in an altercation prior to the shooting. Detectives obtained a physical description of the suspect, but his identity remained unknown. The investigation remained active as detectives conducted follow up and made a plea for information to the public.
On the morning of June 8, 2023, 26-year-old Brennen Virgil Moristo was detained by police in Downtown Tucson in relation to a separate investigation. Through follow-up interviews and further examination of evidence, detectives charged Mr. Moristo with 2nd Degree Murder for the shooting death of Marte Alcorn. He was ultimately transported and booked into the Pima County Jail. He is currently being held on a $1,000,000 bond. Moristo's booking photo and the original media release are listed below.

On March 11th, 2023, shortly before 2:40 a.m., the Public Safety Communications Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a shooting. Officers from Operations Division South responded to an apartment complex located in the 1000 block of E. Benson Hwy. and located an adult male within the complex with obvious signs of gunshot trauma. Officers began life-saving measures using their individual first aid kits until personnel from the Tucson Fire Department arrived. Despite these efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. He has been identified as 40-year-old Marte Alcorn. Next of kin has been notified of his passing.
Detectives from the Homicide Unit were contacted and responded to continue the investigation. Details are extremely limited at this time, and detectives are actively working on determining a motive for the shooting.
