HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION NORTH 15TH AVENUE AND WEST GRANT ROAD |
The Tucson Police Department’s Homicide Unit and Group Violence Unit are actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred yesterday morning on Tucson’s Westside.
On June 6, 2023, just before 6:00 a.m., a 9-1-1 call was received reporting a shooting in the area, south of W. Budmoore Terrace, near 15th Ave. and W. Grant Rd. Patrol officers from Operations Division West responded and located an unresponsive male with gunshot trauma. Officers immediately rendered aid to the male and performed CPR. He was ultimately transported by Tucson Fire to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Police discovered that a second male victim had arrived separately to the hospital with gunshot trauma. The second victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries and interviewed by investigators. The initial victim had succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital. Investigators identified him as 28-year-old Tyrell K. Havier. Next of kin was notified.
Officers gathered witnesses at the scene and detectives from the Homicide Unit responded to continue the investigation. The scene was processed for evidence while investigators conducted interviews. Additional investigators from the Group Violence Unit and officers from Operations Division West/Community Response Team have joined in the investigation. Detectives are currently working to establish a motive and identify a possible suspect. Details are limited and anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME. Information can also be shared anonymously. Additional updates will be provided as they become available.
