Gifts from El Cajon
On March 21st, a generous group from Hope City Church in El Cajon, California painted prayer rocks for our commissioned and professional staff. ODW and Crime Lab personnel participated in placing the rocks between the Crime Lab and ODW substation for all employees to enjoy. Many thanks to the Praying Pelicans for their support!

On March 7th, TPD ODW Officer Khole Lamey located an occupied stolen vehicle in the area of Flowing Wells and Prince Rd. As he approached, the vehicle fled. The occupants then abandoned the vehicle, running away on foot. Officer Lamey coordinated small unit tactics and a suspect was located hiding in a community member’s shed. He was arrested for trespassing.
Officer Lamey took the initiative to conduct follow-up, connecting documents inside the vehicle to the arrestee. These included receipts for spray paint that had been used to paint the vehicle a different color. He followed up with the merchant and, through video surveillance at the store, he was able to positively identify the person in the video as the suspect who had been hiding in the shed. The suspect could be seen purchasing a large amount of spray paint and leaving in the stolen vehicle, which was still its original color. Officer Lamey then put out an arrest bulletin for the suspect.
On March 21st, Officer Lamey coordinated with the ODW Community Response Team to track down the suspect. They located and arrested him for felony auto theft, without incident.
Oficer Lamey is to be commended for his outstanding work on this case. Not only did he coordinate the initial tactics to catch the suspect; he put together a solid case, and initiated a plan that resulted in the suspect’s apprehension. We thank him for his excellent work in police tactics and investigations in service to the ODW community!

The number one favorite way for burglars to break in is through an unlocked door or window.
So while you're remembering to lock your doors and windows, don't forget the garage - thieves often gain access to the main house through an attached garage.
