TRAFFIC SIGNAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
STONE AVENUE AND WETMORE ROAD INTERSECTION
On Wednesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 13, 2023, crews from Next Generation Electrical, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), are scheduled to remove and install new mast arms and traffic signal heads at the Stone Avenue and Wetmore Road intersection. In addition, crews will convert the traffic signal heads to include flashing yellow arrows at the intersection.
Work will take place from about 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., each day. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
During the work, the traffic signals will not be in operation. Lane restrictions will be in place at the intersection for all travel directions. Message boards are in place to alert the traveling public.
Law enforcement officers will be on site to direct travel through the intersection until the work is complete. The traveling public can expect delays when driving in the work area. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for law enforcement officers and construction personnel in the area.
DTM is upgrading intersections throughout the community with flashing yellow left turn arrows to improve safety. Research has indicated that left turn collisions are reduced with flashing yellow arrows. The conversion to flashing yellow arrows also provides operational flexibility; during certain times of the day, left turns can be prohibited unless there is a green arrow. Also, when pedestrians want to cross parallel to traffic, left turning traffic can be stopped with a red arrow until the pedestrian has safely crossed the intersection.
During a flashing left turn arrow, motorists should yield to pedestrians, oncoming motorists and bicyclists and proceed with caution when turning left.

INTERSECCIÓN DE STONE AVENUE Y WETMORE ROAD
El miércoles 12 de abril y el jueves 13 de abril de 2023, las cuadrillas de Next Generation Electrical, bajo contrato con el Departamento de Transporte y Movilidad (DTM) de la Ciudad de Tucson, están programadas para retirar e instalar nuevos brazos y semáforos de tráfico en la intersección de Stone Avenue y Wetmore Road. Además, las cuadrillas convertirán los semáforos para incluir flechas amarillas intermitentes en la intersección.
El trabajo se llevará a cabo aproximadamente de 6 a.m. a 6 p.m., cada día. El horario está sujeto a cambios debido a las inclemencias del tiempo o circunstancias imprevistas.
Durante el trabajo, el semáforo no estará en funcionamiento. Además, habrá restricciones de carril en la intersección en todas las direcciones de viaje. Hay tableros de mensajes para alertar al público viajero.
Oficiales de la ley estarán en el lugar para dirigir el tráfico a través de la intersección hasta que se complete el trabajo. El público que viaja puede esperar retrasos al conducir en el área de trabajo. DTM está mejorando las intersecciones en toda la comunidad con flechas amarillas intermitentes de vuelta a la izquierda para mejorar la seguridad. Investigaciones han indicado que las colisiones al dar vuelta a la izquierda se reducen con flechas amarillas intermitentes. La conversión a flechas amarillas intermitentes también proporciona flexibilidad operativa; durante ciertos periodos del día, se puede prohibir dar vuelta a la izquierda a menos que haya una flecha verde.
