On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, the Tucson Police Department received information concerning a possible shooting that took place at a duplex in the 3200 block of E. Terra Alta Blvd., near E. 5th Street and N. Country Club Road. Patrol officers from Operations Division Midtown responded to the duplex and located several individuals at the apartment in question. Additionally, officers located evidence indicating that someone had been seriously injured. The apartment was cordoned off, and detectives from the Homicide Unit and Aggravated Assault Unit took over the investigation. As the apartment was being processed for evidence, investigators located a deceased female outside, near the apartment. The victim had sustained gunshot trauma and was identified by detectives as 17-year-old Azucena Reina Price. Her family was located and notified.
After completing witness interviews and examining evidence at the scene, detectives developed probable cause to arrest two occupants from the apartment. Detectives charged 19-year-old Joshua Galen Wood with Concealment of a Dead Body, Tampering with Evidence, Hindering Prosecution, and two counts of 3rd Degree Burglary. Nineteen-year-old Christopher Deangelo Bravo was also charged with Tampering with Evidence and Hindering Prosecution. Both suspects were transported and booked into the Pima County Jail. Joshua Woods is being held on a $50,000 bond and Christopher Bravo received a $30,000 bond. In addition to the arrests, detectives also identified 16-year-old Juventino Cervantes-Burke as the suspect in Azucena Price’s death. Detectives coordinated with officers from the Midtown Division/Community Response Team to locate and arrest Burke. Within hours, ODM/CRT officers located the suspect on Tucson’s southwest side. He was taken into custody with the assistance of Tucson SWAT and was brought to the Main Substation. Detectives ultimately charged Juventino Burke with Manslaughter. He is currently being held in the Pima County Jail, and a bond has yet to be set.
Detectives are actively pursuing additional leads and believe that there are more witnesses that were present in the apartment. Anyone with information is urged to call 9-1-1 or 88-CRIME – you can remain anonymous.
