FATAL VEHICLE COLLISION (DELAYED) SOUTH KINO PARKWAY AND EAST SILVERLAKE ROAD |

On March 3, 2023, just before 2:00 p.m., officers from Operations Division South and paramedics from the Tucson Fire Department (TFD) responded to the intersection of S. Kino Parkway. and E. Silverlake Rd. for the report of a serious-injury collision. Upon arrival, TFD transported the driver of a red two-door Fiat to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other involved vehicle, a white Chevrolet SUV, was not injured. Traffic Unit Detectives were notified and continued the investigation.
Interviews conducted by officers and detectives determined that the driver of the Fiat was traveling northbound on Kino Parkway. As the Fiat traveled through the intersection, the driver of the Chevrolet SUV attempted to turn left from southbound Kino Parkway and struck the Fiat. The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as a male in his 70s. Additionally, an officer from the Impaired Driver Enforcement Unit determined that the driver of the SUV was not impaired at the time of the collision. Detectives learned that the driver of the Fiat was not wearing her seatbelt and had a suspended driver’s license.
On the morning of March 5, 2023, Traffic Detectives were notified that the driver of the Fiat had passed away as a result of the injuries she sustained. The driver was identified as 34-year-old Krystal Francesca Bustamante. Next of kin has been notified. The contributing factors of the collision are under investigation, and no charges or citations have been issued at this time.
