_______________Officer Francisco Magos – February 9, 2023__________________
Early this morning, we were reminded of the dangers our brave officers face.
At 3:20 a.m., a patrol officer, assigned to Operations Division West, responded north of the intersection at N. Stone Ave. and Glenn St., to a report of a male lying in the roadway, possibly related to a vehicle collision. The officer positioned his patrol car north of the intersection with his emergency lights activated. Shortly thereafter, the officer relayed to dispatch that he had been struck by a vehicle. The officer sustained serious injuries and was transported by Tucson Fire to Banner University Main Campus. The driver who struck the officer was placed under arrest for suspected DUI.
The officer's family and his TPD family share their sincere gratitude to the officers on scene, who provided immediate aid, the Tucson Fire Department, staff at Banner UMC, and the Tucson community for the care and support the officer has received. The officer is in stable condition at this time - we wish him a quick and full recovery.
