OFFICE OF ECONOMIC INITIATIVES ANNOUNCES NEW FOOD-BASED BUSINESS PROGRAM IN SPANISH: SAZON EMPRESARIAL
Sazon Empresarial is an initiative by the City of Tucson that focuses on supporting underrepresented minorities and women-owned businesses and entrepreneurs in the food service industry. The program, which begins on June 8, 2022, will ensure that food-based entrepreneurial enterprises are successfully accelerated in their development through diverse business support resources and services. It will also help elevate small and medium-sized enterprises by using an innovative curriculum and consistent evaluations.
The bulk of the program will take participants from a beginning to an end, producing tangible materials and teaching best practices. The program will be offered in Spanish only. Participants will be guided by expert mentorship and instruction and will build networks among their peers and teachers. The program will take place at a local coworking space.
“We are pleased to offer this new program to assist local entrepreneurs who wish to accelerate their food business,” said Francisca Villegas, small business program manager for the City of Tucson. “It is designed to assist small- to medium-sized local establishments which are at the heart of our community.”
According to Barbra Coffee, director of Economic Initiatives for the City of Tucson, this accelerator is part of an effort to provide more programming to meet the needs of our Spanish speaking entrepreneurs.
“This training is more meaningful and effective when taught in a business owner’s native language,” Coffee said. “We are thrilled to offer this course as part of our overall small business technical assistance program.”

Este nuevo programa, llamado Sazón Empresarial, es una iniciativa de la Ciudad de Tucson que se enfoca en apoyar a las minorías subrepresentadas y mujeres empresarias en la industria de servicios de comida. Este programa garantizará que los negocios de comida aceleren con éxito su emprendimiento a través de diversos recursos y servicios de apoyo que ofrece la Ciudad de Tucson. También ayudará a elevar a las pequeñas y medianas empresas (PYMES) mediante el uso de un plan de estudios innovador y evaluaciones consistentes.
La mayor parte del proyecto llevará a los participantes de principio ah fin, produciendo materiales tangibles y enseñando las mejores prácticas. También se tiene la intención de ofrecer los servicios en español, el cual es el idioma de preferencia del participante. Los participantes serán guiados por la tutoría e instrucción de expertos y tendrán acceso para construir redes de apoyo entre sus compañeros y maestros.
