READ THE LATEST TUCSON DELIVERS PROGRESS REPORT - Follow the progress of the voter-approved Tucson Delivers - Proposition 101: Safer City, Better Streets; and Proposition 407: Parks + Connections Bond program. Of the $250 million projected to be collected from the Proposition 101 half-cent sales tax (2018-2022), $100 million is dedicated to the Better Streets initiative, with 40 percent dedicated to neighborhood street improvements. The Safer City initiative will provide $150 million for vehicles, equipment, and facilities for the Tucson Fire and Police departments. The Parks + Connections Bond (2019-2028) provides $225 million to improve City park amenities, including playgrounds, sports fields, pools, and splash pads. Connection projects include greenways and shared-use paths, pedestrian safety and walkability, and bicycle boulevards. FOURTH AVENUE SPRING STREET FAIR BEGINS TOMORROW - The 2022 Fourth Avenue Spring Street Fair runs tomorrow through Sunday, April 1-3, along historic Fourth Avenue, from 10 a.m.-dusk each day. The 52-year-old, family-friendly tradition hosts artists from around the world, featuring a variety of food, local entertainment, and lots of fun. The biannual event takes place in the winter and spring. The Fourth Avenue Street Fair is produced by the North Fourth Avenue Merchants Association, Inc., a local nonprofit. The funds are used to support the Avenue’s infrastructure, invest in local neighborhoods and other nonprofits, and create other free community events throughout the year on Historic Fourth Avenue. TUCSON FOLK FESTIVAL RETURNS THIS WEEKEND - The 37th annual Tucson Folk Festival returns tomorrow through Sunday, April 1-3, with more than 125 live performances on five stages in Downtown Tucson, near Jacome Plaza. The event is free, and there will be an online broadcast. More than 16 headlining acts will perform, including Watkins Family Hour, Tish Hinojosa, Vance Gilbert, Ryanhood, and more. LEARN ABOUT READY, SET, REC! (VIDEO) - Tucson Parks and Recreation is bringing its mobile recreation program to a park near you. Six vans, one per ward, visit at least three different park locations per week, per vehicle. The program was made possible by Tucson's Mayor and Council, who voted to use federal CARES Act funds to acquire six vans and equipment to bring recreation to the community. GENE C. REID PARK TREE PRUNING NEXT WEEK - The City of Tucson will have certified arborists pruning the dead material on some of the Aleppo pine trees on Barnum Hill, in Gene C. Reid Park, on Monday and Tuesday, April 4 and 5. This work will improve the appearance of the trees and help take care of any dead material which can be harmful to the trees and potentially fall to the ground. Save the Heart of Reid Park provided a generous donation to hire an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA)-certified arborist and professional tree care team to prune the trees on Barnum Hill.
