LEARN ABOUT BUILDING CASITAS IN TUCSON - Tucson's Mayor and Council recently adopted an amendment to the Unified Development Code to allow Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), or casitas, in Tucson. This ordinance, approved on Dec. 7, 2021, took effect today, Jan. 10. A casita is a smaller independent living space on the same lot as a primary home. Casitas add to our City's housing options and can help seniors age in place, support multi-generational living, and promote affordable housing. You can learn more about the new regulations, and the process to design and permit a casita, by attending an ADU information session hosted by Mi Casita on Wednesday, Jan. 12. More information and background on the ADU amendment can be found on the project website linked below. Attend the ADU information session ADU website ADU worksheet (PDF)
